Corinne Potay (Municipal Records Office): Carré d'art

The theatre burned down in 1952. Carré d'art, designed by Sir Norman Foster, was built on the site in 1993 and houses a contemporary art museum and a media centre. The building plays the role of both urban centre and cultural focus and sets up an exchange between Roman antiquity and contemporary art in a new dimension of greater Nîmes.
