The Maison Carrée had some influence on later local architecture. One of the clearest examples is the late seventeenth century mansion at 12 rue de la Porte de France in Nîmes, and known as 'Château Fadaise'. The ornamental language of the Maison Carrée was used in the capitals: coiled pistils, architrave with three bands, foliated frieze, dentils and ovoli, etc.
